The scene is set at the very start with the interweaving stories that include Ching Fai (Nick Cheung) a former boxer who has fled Hong Kong due to his increasing debt, Lin Si-Qi (Eddie Peng) who is forced to work after his father loses his fortune and single mother Ming-Jun (Mei Ting) who hasn't been the same since a family tragedy. If you have no idea what to do in your life, sign up for MMA competition then train like hell.Unbeatable Review Directed by : Dante Lam Stars: Nick Cheung, Eddie Peng, Mei Ting and Andy Onĭante Lam brings the pain with his MMA inspired Unbeatable but will you go the full round or tap out ? Don't bet money on your student but if you are fighting, bet on yourself.ģ. You will get killed if you join MMA competition at the age of 40 or more.Ģ. Things I learnt from this movie (don't take me seriously):-ġ. As for Crystal Lee, although she's Malaysian but I found that her acting skills was a little fake and exaggerated, winning the Best Actress award visibly debatable. Nick Cheung who recently won the Best Actor award in Shanghai Film Festival was actually quite honorable with his acting experience and hardship in transforming his physic into a MMA fighter's body. Also, challenger who can survive for 2 rounds will win is kind of rubbish. The movie did not show other weight class fights so it seems to have only one weight class fight through out the entire competition and not telling the audience how many fights that you have to win in order to get the $2.7million. The mechanic of Golden Rumble MMA Championship wasn't being explained well in this movie. This movie could have been shorten a little by cutting some of Fai's drama with the lady and daughter who he's staying with. It's not cheesy and Fai gets to remain his acting style if you have watched his previous comedy movies. The way how writer portrayed the 'master and student' relationship between Fai and Nick was one of the plots that I liked most in this movie. Both have different ways of living their life but met each other in the gym where Fai works. This movie started with a slow pace drama to introduce two main characters, Qi (Eddie Peng) and Fai (Nick Cheung). To inspire his father to stand up again, Qi enters an open MMA competition and starts training at Fai’s gym.Įye candy for the ladies - Taiwanese Canadian actor, Eddie Peng. However, the family business failed, sending his dad into alcohol-fueled depressing and forcing Qi to take up construction jobs in Macau. Hot-blooded Qi (Eddie Peng) was once the son of a rich man in Mainland China. To escape his debtors, Fai escapes to Macau and works in a gym as an assistant instructor in weight loss classes. Unbeatable tells about a former boxing champ Fai (Nick Cheung) who is knee-deep in debt and with no solution in sight. Starring: Nick Cheung, Eddie Peng, Mei Ting, Crystal Lee Writer: Dante Lam, Jack Ng, Fung Chi-fung The film had it's premiere at the Shanghai Film Festival on Jand won the Best Actor (Nick Cheung) and Best Actress (Crystal Lee) award.
